Podcamp, the Premiere Podcasting Conference, Returns to Boston Oct. 26

22 10 2007

Podcasters in the Boston area have long been marking their calendars for the second Podcamp conference in Boston (you can attend a Podcamp at various times and places around the world), and that week is finally here. But Podcamp is not just for podcasters; it’s an intimate get-together for anyone interested in new and social media. All skill levels are welcome. The speakers/presenters welcome plenty of contribution from the audience, so this isn’t a conference for sitting idly through overly long, overly boring sessions — you’ll get your chance to lend your own expertise and opinion should you attend.

(Registration has hit capacity already, unfortunately.  We’ll provide more info if we hear otherwise.)

The Podcast and New Media Expo Has Begun

28 09 2007

The premiere industry event for podcasting, PNME, is underway in Ontario, California.  You can catch updates from the event here.

Our COO Duncan Perry and VP-Marketing/Biz Dev Glenn Gaudet are in attendance.  If you are too and would like to meet up with one or both of them, email glenn {at} podcast.com to make arrangements.

News Flash: Still Plugging Away

4 09 2007

This just in: if you tuned in here just over a month ago, we mentioned a new version of our site almost ready for prime time.  And yes, that’s still true.  In fact, we’re making plans to coincide this new site launch with the Podcast and New Media Expo at the end of September.  You heard it here first.

And if you’re still wondering or are just now wondering, you can send a blank email to register [at] podcast [dot] com to be notified when we’re ready for you to come in.

Now back to your regularly scheduled podcasting / programming …

Podcasting Hits Conferences Big Time

23 08 2007

pnmeI guess you know you’ve hit the big time when people organize a conference around you. In our last post we mentioned the Podcast Awards to be announced at the 3rd Annual Podcast and New Media Expo, a ‘”prosumer” and corporate event’ for people who make audio and video for the Web. Turnout to this Ontario CA event has been strong the past two years — evidently so strong that podcast types decided to organize another conference just over a month later called the Blog World and New Media Expo, and take it straight (or at least close) to the Vegas strip. Looks like the name “New Media Expo” is the flavor of the month.

blogworldThe conference title mentions blogs but it features many of the same tracks as the P+NME: how to make media for the Web, how to get an audience, and how to make money.

Registration is open for both P+NME and BW+NME (don’t get the acronyms confused!), and it’s time for you to pick your poison …

Podcast Hotel Hits San Francisco

19 04 2007

podcast hotelLooking for a conference that features indie culture, podcasting, digital music and the arts? Yeah, well, maybe you weren’t, but the Podcast Hotel is just that type of conference, and after making a fuss in Portland and Seattle it has ventured south into the Golden State. The San Francisco version features P.H.-relevant speakers representing videobloggers/podcasters (Rocketboom, Podtech), record/music labels (Sub Pop, IODA), Web radio (Pandora, Soma.fm), big Internet media (Real Networks), academia (Stanford University), and more. For people who are far away from the left coast (like us), check the Podcast Hotel website for popodcast hoteltential archives from the conference, or maybe a stream, or maybe that’s too much to ask although I will be snarky and say it should not be in this day and age, especially at a podcast-centric conference.
